Day 2 - Sarah Granger Kimball

OK - this homesite is set off from the other historical sites just a bit and is sometimes overlooked, but this was probably my favorite.  Sarah Granger Kimball was an amazing woman - she was instrumental in the establishment of the Relief Society not to mention a historic figure herself in women's rights.

I'm sure the beautiful garden of peonies had a little to do with it as well...

Day 1, the Monument to Women

Memorial Garden...

Our first stop in Historic Nauvoo was the Visitor's Center.  Here they have a lovely garden dedicated to women.  On occasion I will get questions about women in our church. I realize that the world and some of the members of our church think that as women we are looked down upon or that we are inferior to the men because we do not hold the priesthood.  I have never felt that way, actually quite the contrary.  As I walked through this monument with my son I couldn't help but think how very different we each interpret things to be, because I felt an overwhelming feeling of love and purpose.  As I gazed at the bronze figures my heart was tender to all of the beautiful moments in my life that where represented here.  I knew that each of these images portrayed those things that had brought true joy to my life and had helped to mold me into the person I am...as well the person I will continue to become as I stay on a path of continual learning.

Sweet Summer Time...

Well I must admit I have certainly taken a long break from blogging this year.  That isn't to say I haven't had lots of great things to blog about.  Actually so many projects I haven't had time to blog.  BUT I have been trying to take pictures, save documents, etc. so that now that I have a little free time in the summer I can share them with you.

This summer has started out crazy but I am happy to say I am finding some down time at our lake house.
I could live here permanently - or at least I think I could!

...so here are a few things I have been working on that I am going to get posted over the next couple of weeks...

Girl's Camp & All of It's Adventures
(Oh the Crafts, Glorious Crafts)

My Spring Garden
Canning some of my Harvest

Bread & Jam

Just a sneak peek!
